Tesla Model Y 7-Seater Now Available in Europe, Priced €2,500 Above Standard Version

Tesla Model Y 7-Seater Now Available in Europe, Priced €2,500 Above Standard Version

Yesterday, Tesla's official accounts for Europe and the Middle East announced the availability of a 7-seater interior option for the Model Y. However, several Middle Eastern countries where Tesla vehicles can be ordered have yet to offer this configuration.

According to the latest order pages on Tesla’s European websites, the 7-seater option is now available for the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive, with Germany, home to Tesla’s Gigafactory, serving as an example. The optional upgrade costs €2,500.

The additional two seats are located in the trunk area and can be folded flat, slightly reducing the maximum cargo space, though the impact is minimal. With the rear seats folded, the Model Y still offers 753 liters of trunk space, just slightly less than the standard 5-seater version. When the third row is in use, there is 363 liters of available trunk space, while folding both the second and third rows yields a total cargo capacity of 2,040 liters.

Tesla has not extended the wheelbase for the 7-seater version. However, the second-row seats are adjustable and can slide forward, providing flexible space management. The third row also includes two USB-C ports for device charging, and the second-row seats feature shoulder-level release buttons, allowing easy sliding and tilting for convenient access to the third row.

Tesla claims that the 7-seater Model Y, when equipped with 19-inch wheels, offers a range of up to 373 miles (approximately 600.29 kilometers).

When Tesla first unveiled the Model Y, the 7-seater configuration was highlighted as a key feature. However, since its launch in North America in 2021, the 7-seater option has only been available there.

In January of this year, Tesla raised the price of the 7-seater option by $500 in the U.S., but by April, the price reverted to its original level. Currently, the additional seating option costs $2,000 in the U.S., though at one point last year, it briefly reached $4,000.

Now, European customers can also order the 7-seater Model Y, with deliveries expected to begin by the end of this quarter (Q4). At present, only the Long Range AWD version offers the 7-seater option.

However, for those seeking comfort in the third row, the 7-seater Model Y may not be the ideal choice. According to feedback from existing owners, the third row is best suited for children or petite adults, as it lacks dedicated air vents. Nonetheless, it remains a practical option for families who need additional seating flexibility.
