1. Tesla Model Y Juniper Spotted Cruising on California Highway With Updated Lights
The refreshed Tesla Model Y was spotted once again during road testing, with two videos shared from California highways. In the first video, both the front and rear remain well-camouflaged.
From this footage, we can infer that the taillights will feature a claw-like design, similar to the refreshed Model 3, but with a gray finish.
The second video, shared by another user, offers one of the clearest views so far (compared to previous leaks and sightings), showing the car driving in the rain. A closer look at the license plates reveals that two different camouflaged Model Y prototypes were captured during road testing.
In the video, the taillights are clearly illuminated, suggesting the potential adoption of a full-width light bar design. However, the orange reflector on the front hints that this is likely the North American version. Notably, a camouflaged prototype was first spotted in China in late October (as shown below), which also seems to confirm the use of split headlights.
2.Another Tesla upgraded Model Y âJuniperâ has been spotted in Palo Alto
On January 2, according to the latest updates, another refreshed Model Y (codenamed "Juniper") was spotted undergoing testing on a highway in Palo Alto, California, by a U.S. user.
Notably, this sighting is closer and provides a clearer view of the taillights from a more direct angle compared to the footage shared a few days ago. The CyberCab-style indirect light bar is clearly visible.
The CyberCab is Tesla's fully autonomous robo-taxi, unveiled during the October 11, 2024, event. It is scheduled to enter production in 2026. Currently, it is being showcased across various locations in the United States, as well as in select European cities.

Side Mirrors The side mirrors have been slightly redesigned to include a ridge, enhancing visual dynamism and possibly improving aerodynamics.
Taillights The taillights seem to feature a crab claw-like shape with an exterior gray section and an interior red section, the reverse of the design seen on the new Model 3.
Rear Camera The rear camera is confirmed to be mounted on the lip, rather than underneath as in the current version.
Interior The interior remains covered, indicating upcoming changes likely similar to the new Model 3. The screen appears larger than the current Model Yâs, with slimmer bezels, similar to the new Model 3. The seats are the same as the current Model Y, but it would be surprising if Tesla doesnât update them. The steering wheel appears to be the same as the one in the new Model 3.
