A drone flying footage of the Cybertruck at Giga Texas shows it driving like a crab, which means it can drive laterally with both sets of wheels turned. When you turn a car, the front wheels turn and the automobile moves in the other direction, but the Cybertruck's back wheels may also turn.
In a video posted to X on Wednesday by drone pilot and Gigafactory Texas spy Joe Tegtmeyer, you can see Tesla experimenting with "crab driving" or "crab walking" by employing rear-wheel steering to go forward while driving at an angle.
As the video suggests, rear-wheel steering, sometimes known as four-wheel steering, could be useful on construction sites, in off-road circumstances, or in other situations where an extremely narrow turn radius or the ability to "crab drive" could be useful.
A feature like this may be too gimmicky for small vehicles, but for a truck as large as the Cybertruck, it will undoubtedly come in handy, especially when trying to fit in tight parking spots, off-roading on difficult terrain, or otherwise maneuvering in tight spaces.
This is noteworthy in and of itself, but what's more fascinating is that crab walking is not a capability that Tesla has marketed for the Cybertruck. This suggests that, despite several leaks and rumors, the Cybertruck still has more fascinating features.
