Changing the air filter in your Tesla is an important maintenance task to ensure clean air inside the cabin and maintain optimal air quality. Tesla recommends replacing the air filter every 2 years, but it can be done more frequently depending on driving conditions.

How to Change the Air Filter for Your Tesla:

1. Get the Right Air Filter:

Purchase a Tesla-specific cabin air filter. For most models, you’ll need two filters. Make sure to check the size and model of your Tesla (e.g., Model 3, Model Y, Model S, or Model X).

2. Tools You’ll Need:

New cabin air filters.
Trim removal tool or a flathead screwdriver.
10mm socket wrench (if applicable).
Flashlight for better visibility.

3. Steps to Replace the Air Filter:

For Model 3/Y:

Turn off the climate control: Before starting, turn off the climate control system from the touchscreen to prevent airflow.
Remove the Passenger Side Panel:

Move the passenger seat back for space.
Use a trim removal tool to carefully pry off the passenger side footwell cover. You’ll see screws that hold the panel in place.
Unscrew the fasteners and gently remove the cover.

Access the Air Filter Compartment:

Behind the glovebox area, you’ll see the air filter cover.
Use the socket wrench to remove the screws securing the air filter compartment.

Remove the Old Filters:

Slide out the old filters carefully. If they’re dirty or clogged, it’s a good idea to wear gloves.

Install the New Filters:

Place the new filters in the compartment, making sure they’re facing the correct direction (check the arrows for airflow direction).

Reassemble Everything:

Reattach the cover, screws, and panels in reverse order.
Test the climate control to ensure everything is working.

4. For Model S/X:

Follow a similar process, but the location may differ slightly. The filter is typically behind the glovebox or near the footwell area.
