Is the Model Y Juniper Refresh Worth the Wait? Top 10 Predicted Highlights

Is the Model Y Juniper Refresh Worth the Wait? Top 10 Predicted Highlights

Many potential Model Y owners are torn: should they buy the current version or wait for the refreshed model? After reading these 10 predicted highlights, you might find the answer.

1. Full-Width Taillights

This design feature has never been seen on previous Model 3 or Model Y vehicles. It’s a brand-new exterior detail but has appeared on the front of the Cybertruck. This suggests that Tesla’s new models might be leaning towards a Cybertruck-inspired style, which is likely to be well-received by fans.

Some owners have joked, wondering if these are leftover parts from the Cybertruck, considering Tesla’s constant pursuit of cost control and the sharing of many components across models. However, this is probably just a joke since new designs generally cost more than full-width taillights.

2. Ventilated Seats

It seems likely that ventilated seats are coming, as many owners have requested this feature. Given Tesla’s habit of using common components between the Model 3 and Model Y to streamline production and reduce costs, this addition makes sense.

Spy shots have revealed that the Model Y Refresh seats have perforations, indicating that they will include seat ventilation. This feature is expected to boost sales once implemented.

3. Screen-Based Gear Shifting

If the Model Y Juniper Refresh indeed uses screen-based gear shifting, it could significantly impact sales. Tesla is likely aware of this concern and may offer a solution in the future: an upgrade for automatic gear shifting. The vehicle's system would automatically detect the appropriate times and locations to shift gears, allowing drivers to control gear changes using only the pedals.

4. Increased Range

It's rumored that the Model Y Juniper Refresh will feature a 95kWh battery pack, which could potentially allow the long-range version to easily achieve a range of over 800 km. Naturally, this upgrade will likely come with a higher price tag.

5. Suspension Update

Many owners have reported that the current Model Y feels quite stiff, which is largely due to its suspension. The Model 3 Highland Refresh, however, has a superior suspension system compared to the older models, offering a softer ride and better shock absorption thanks to its new adaptive suspension (adaptive damping). This improved system is expected to be implemented in the Model Y Juniper Refresh as well.

6. The rear air vents will feature an 11-inch screen.

7. The vehicle will be equipped with Hardware 5.0 intelligent hardware (though this is unlikely).

8. The standard range version will allow unlocking of additional battery capacity through a purchase.

9. The vehicle’s sound system will include an additional woofer unit.

10. New Aerodynamic Design

The upcoming Model Y Juniper is expected to incorporate Tesla’s innovations from the Model 3, featuring new headlights, taillights, and a more streamlined front bumper. In some concept models, the design of the central ventilation area surpasses that of the Model 3. This design choice aims to significantly reduce the vehicle’s aerodynamic drag, allowing air to flow more efficiently through the vents.

Currently, the Tesla Model 3 boasts the lowest drag coefficient among all Tesla models at 0.219. The 2025 Model Y is likely to further reduce this drag coefficient to below 0.2. Such a reduction could significantly increase the range of the Model Y.
