Tesla OTA 2024.20.10 (FSD 12.5) Release Notes

Tesla OTA 2024.20.10 (FSD 12.5) Release Notes

FSD v12.5 is now being rolled out to a select group of early adopters. However, it does not yet include the merging of city/highway stacks (i.e., highways are not yet end-to-end) and cannot detect drivers wearing sunglasses.

FSD (Supervised) v12.5

Applicable Models: Model S, X, 3, Y.

FSD (Supervised) v12.5 upgrades the city streets driving stack to a single end-to-end neural network trained on millions of video clips, replacing over 300,000 lines of explicit C++ code.

Vision-Based Attention Monitoring

Applicable Models: New Model S, X; Model 3, Y.

When FSD is enabled, the driver monitoring system primarily relies on the cabin camera to determine driver attention. The cabin camera must have a clear view (e.g., camera not obstructed, eyes and arms visible, cabin well-lit, driver looking forward at the road, no sunglasses or other eye obstructions).

In other circumstances, the driver monitoring system will mainly use torque-based (steering wheel) monitoring to detect driver attention. If the cabin camera detects driver inattention, a warning will be issued. The driver can immediately refocus on the road to clear the warning. Warnings will escalate based on the nature and frequency of detected inattention, and persistent inattention will lead to FSD disengagement.

FSD (Supervised)

Applicable Models: Model S, X, 3, Y.

With your supervision, FSD (Supervised) enables your Tesla to drive almost anywhere. It will change lanes, choose forks to follow your navigation route, maneuver around other vehicles and objects, and make left and right turns. You and any authorized person must remain attentive and cautious. It does not make your vehicle autonomous. Do not become complacent.

To use FSD, pull the drive stalk down once. You can disable FSD (Supervised) in Autopilot settings.

FSD Suspended

Applicable Models: Model S, X, 3, Y.

To ensure maximum safety and accountability, FSD usage will be suspended if misuse is detected. Misuse is defined as you or other drivers of your vehicle receiving five “Autopilot Disengagement” warnings. An Autopilot Disengagement occurs when the driver is forced out of Autopilot for the remainder of the trip after receiving several audio and visual warnings for inattention. Voluntarily disengaging Autopilot does not count as misuse, which is a driver’s responsibility. Keep your hands on the wheel and stay attentive at all times. Handheld device use is not permitted when using Autopilot. Every 7 days without receiving an Autopilot Disengagement warning, one Autopilot Disengagement warning will be forgiven. Each time you receive an Autopilot Disengagement warning, this timer resets.

FSD (Supervised) can only be removed through this suspension method and will be unavailable for approximately one week.

Electric Front Doors

Applicable Models: New Model X.

Now, when you approach the vehicle and Auto Door is enabled, the driver’s door can open halfway. To enable, go to Controls > Locks > Auto Door.

Green Dot When Monitoring is Active

Applicable Models: New Model S, X; Model 3, Y.

When the new vision-based attention monitoring feature is active, Tesla will display a green dot near the blue (active) Autopilot icon. This confirms the vehicle is using the cabin camera rather than steering wheel torque to monitor attention.

For Model 3 and Model Y, this icon appears in the upper left corner of the main screen; for Model S and Model X, it appears on the right side of the dashboard. If the camera cannot sufficiently monitor the driver at any time, the dot will turn off, and the vehicle will revert to using steering wheel torque as before.
