On November 14th, the official Tesla Charge account announced the launch of the next generation of the new V4 Supercharger Cabinet (V4 Cabinet), which will provide up to 500kW of charging power.

In the announcement, Tesla highlighted the significant advancements made in its Supercharging technology since the first Supercharger station was launched in 2012, which initially offered charging speeds of just 90kW.
Over the years, Tesla’s engineering team has consistently upgraded its Supercharging equipment.
In 2023, Tesla introduced the V4 Supercharger, enhancing the charging experience for all EVs.
Today, Tesla has unveiled the V4 Cabinet, which boasts:
- Up to 500kW charging power for cars.
- Up to 1.2MW charging power for the Tesla Semi.

Deployment Timeline
Tesla shared that the first stations equipped with V4 Cabinets are currently undergoing permitting, with the first locations set to open in 2025.
Versatility for a Wide Range of EVs
The V4 Cabinet’s ability to support vehicles with 400V to 1000V architectures is a significant breakthrough.
- For Tesla vehicles, this means only the Cybertruck can currently take full advantage of the higher charging speeds, while the S3XY lineup will continue to charge at up to 250kW.
- However, many non-Tesla EVs, such as the Porsche Taycan, Kia EV6, and Hyundai IONIQ 5, will also benefit from this technology.
Transitioning from V3 to V4
Internally, Tesla refers to its current V4 Supercharger stations as V3.5 because they combine elements of both old and new technologies. However, the company is expected to soon begin constructing fully-fledged V4 Supercharger stations.

For Tesla owners in mainland China, there is growing anticipation for the arrival of V4 Superchargers. Speculation suggests that Tesla may directly deploy stations equipped with the new V4 Cabinets as early as next year. Further updates are eagerly awaited.
